Update from Jan – May 22, 2013

Hi All,

If you haven’t seen this kid’s cool helmet story in yesterday’s Everett Herald yet, click here. The photos of these cool helmets are pretty interesting.

Also, in Monday’s Everett Herald on page A4, there was a photo & caption of Jenny Almgren (CBC) and Warren Bare (B.I.K.E.S./EBAG/CBC), which was taken while we were fitting bike helmets for the MLT-Mountlake Terrace Elementary School students at their bike helmet giveaway assembly on May 3rd, thanks to a Safe Routes to School grant.

The following day there was also a bike rodeo on a MLT High School parking lot for the elementary students.  They sure had a fun time riding the circuit that Jenny Almgren & her volunteers setup.  (We haven’t yet posted those event photos on our new EBAG website, but that should happen soon.)

For Bike To School Day (May 9th at MLT), those same MLT Elementary students arrived at school by bike and filled up the bike racks in front of their school (~50 bikes were counted).  What a sight!  (These photos will also be posted on our EBAG website soon.)

More info about the BOB bicycle program at MLT Elementary can be found by clicking here.

EBAG members, bike mechanic support provided by Bicycles West, & our bike commuters had a fun time at our Edmonds Bike To Work Day (BTWD) station last Friday, even though our weather was not the best.  Bike commuters did stop by, riding in their rain gear, but our overall numbers were rather low this year.  Click here for photos from our BTWD event.

Our newly redesigned website went “live” last Thursday. We welcome your feedback.  Feel free to use our new Contact page to share your comments/ideas with us.

FYI – As usual, we are not planning to hold a June EBAG meeting.  We might opt for a June group ride instead, if we have a ride leader volunteer, and enough interest in doing a ride together.  Please let us know if you’d be interested in joining a group ride around the Edmonds area or to be a ride leader, and whether Wednesday, June 19th (3rd Wed of the month) will work for you, and what start times work best.  We were discussing earlier this month maybe to have a group ride approximately same time as our usual meeting time, 6:45-8:30pm(?).

Happy Cycling,
